MEQUON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was held to just one run over two games of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Friday against Concordia Wisconsin by scores of 3-0 and 11-1 at Kapco Park.
The Warriors (4-15, 0-6 NACC), who saw their first action in nine days, fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first when the Falcons (11-10, 6-2 NACC) scored on a fielder's choice and wild pitch.Â
WLC had a runner reach safely in each of the first five innings, but left runners stranded in scoring position in four of the five frames. Back-to-back two-out singles in the fourth from freshmen
Colt Ratliff (Oxford, Ga.) and
Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo.) went unharmed. Concordia Wisconsin plated its final run in the last of the sixth on a two-out RBI double. Â
Five players tallied one hit apiece for Wisconsin Lutheran in the opener. Junior
Elijah Shevey (Muskego, Wis.) reached base twice on a pair of walks. Junior
Matt Brissette (Mukwonago, Wis.) went 6.0 innings for the third consecutive outing, allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts and a walk.
Sophomore
Lucas Oswald (Muskego, Wis.) led off the second inning of game two with a double and freshman
Ian Rintelman (Muskego, Wis.) drove him in two batters later with a double of his own to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. WLC had a chance for more, but stranded two runners in scoring position with nobody out.
The Falcons knotted the score at 1-1 in the fourth inning on a one-out RBI double to left center. CUW tacked on five runs on four hits in its next half inning to take its first lead of the game. Concordia Wisconsin later added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth for the final runs of the nightcap.
Five players collected one hit each in game two, with Rintelman driving in the run.
