KOHLER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College picked up its second Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory in as many days with a 9-0 sweep over Lakeland on Saturday at the Sports Core.
The Warriors (4-8, 2-1 NACC), who secured their second 9-0 sweep of the season, won their fourth straight in the series over the Muskies (0-2, 0-2 NACC).Â
WLC cruised through doubles play allowing just one game to LU. Junior
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and senior
Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) won 8-1 at No. 1, senior
Bryce Halvorsen (Kewaskum, Wis.) and sophomore
Zadic Torline (Shawnee, Kan.) tallied an 8-0 shutout at No. 2, while sophomore
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) and senior
Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) also collected an 8-0 shutout at No. 3.Â
Wisconsin Lutheran also had little trouble with singles competition, surrendering a total of four games to Lakeland. White was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 1 and Newberg netted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Torline, Kannenberg, Halvorsen, and Heezen each swept their opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 through No. 6, respectively.
The Warriors wrap up their busy three-match conference weekend tomorrow against St. Norbert (6-8, 1-0 NACC). First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson.
