JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was unable to complete a weekend sweep of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matches, as it fell to St. Norbert 7-2 on Sunday at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.
The Warriors (4-9, 2-2 NACC) fell behind the Green Knights (7-9, 2-1 NACC) 3-0 after doubles play despite a pair of closely contested contests. WLC's No. 1 team of junior
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and senior
Asa White (Farmington, N.M.) fell 8-7 (9-7) to SNC's Brett Daniels and Jackson Harpt. At No. 2, senior
Bryce Halvorsen (Kewaskum, Wis.) and sophomore
Zadic Torline (Shawnee, Kan.) came up short 8-5 to Brian Coulter and Joe Pellechia.
Newberg claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Harpt, while Halvorsen handed Coulter a 6-4, 6-1 defeat at No. 5 singles. Wisconsin Lutheran suffered a trio of three-set heartbreaking defeats to St. Norbert. White was upended by Daniels 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 1, Torline was edged by Pellechia 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-7) at No. 3, and senior
Jon Kannenberg (Butler, Wis.) was clipped by David Vandenberg 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.Â
