Duhawks, No. 14 Bears Down Warriors At Loras Invitational

WLC begins conference play on Wednesday at home

DUBUQUE, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College was downed by Loras and No. 14 WashU in a pair of 3-0 matches at the Loras Invitational on Saturday at Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.

The Warriors (3-6) fell to the Duhawks in their first match of the day in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-23. WLC was held to .039 hitting with 22 kills, 19 errors, and 77 attempts. LC hit .170 with 34 kills, 18 errors, and 94 attempts. 

Junior Bailey Halliburton (Germantown, Wis.) hit .583 with seven kills to lead Wisconsin Lutheran. Junior Kayla Wgiley (Milwaukee, Wis.) added six kills, two service aces, and a match-high 12 digs. Senior Emma Incaprero (Mauston, Wis.) tallied a team-high eight assists. Senior Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) totaled three blocks.

Autumn Finich led Loras (8-4) with 11 kills, while Sara Hoskins added 22 assists.

The Warriors fell to the 14th-ranked Bears in their final match of the day by scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-7. WLC totaled 27 kills, 18 errors, and 107 attempts for a .084 hitting percentage. WashU hit .276 with 41 kills, 12 errors, and 105 attempts. 

Junior Lily Schuetz (Lake Mills, Wis.) and sophomore Johanna Andreae (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) posted six kills apiece for Wisconsin Lutheran. Incaprero and freshman Hannah Rood (Burnsville, Minn.) tied for the team lead with eight assists. Senior Kylee Gnabasik (Jefferson, Wis.) collected 11 digs. 

Sam Buckley posted a double-double of 28 assists and 16 digs for WashU (9-2).
