WLC Never Trails In Dominant Showing Against Concordia Chicago

Team leads wire-to-wire in winning seventh straight NACC opener

MILWAUKEE (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a 3-0 sweep over Concordia Chicago on Wednesday at Time of Grace Center.

The Warriors (4-6, 1-0 NACC), who won their seventh straight conference opener, swept the Cougars (5-5, 0-1 NACC) in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-18. WLC never trailed in the contest, recording 39 kills and 14 errors on 101 total swings.

Wisconsin Lutheran went back-and-forth with CUC in the beginning of the first set, until a six-point serving run from freshman Willa Hollander (St. Louis, Mo.) shifted the momentum en route to a 25-17 win. The momentum continued into set two, and an emphatic kill from senior Amahra Matthai (Plover, Wis.) propelled the Warriors to a convincing 25-14 set two victory. The final set continued to showcase WLC's dominance, with multiple kills coming from juniors Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) and Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.), respectively, in a 25-18 triumph. 

Wisconsin Lutheran had contributions from numerous players, with six posting at least four kills on the night. Biggin paced the balanced Warriors attack with nine kills. Freshman Hannah Rood (Burnsville, Minn.) recorded a team-high 16 assists, Junior Lily Schuetz (Lake Mills, Wis.) tallied 11 digs, while Matthai hit .333 and accumulated four block assists.

Lili Hunt had a team-high seven kills for Concordia Chicago, which hit .000 with 20 kills, 20 errors, and 95 attempts.
