Rolando Colin (Waukegan, Ill.) scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to send Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 1-0 non-conference win over Grace Christian on Friday at Warriors Soccer Field.
Despite the Warriors (6-2-1) out-shooting the Tigers 10-1 in the first half, including 3-1 in shots on goal, the contest remained scoreless through the opening 45 minutes of action. Both sides were evenly matched throughout the second half, as WLC held a 4-2 edge in shots over GCU.
After re-entering the lineup with seven minutes left on the game clock, Colin broke the scoreless match in the 86th minute with his third goal of the season, a bicycle kick inside the box that came from a corner kick.Â
Sophomore
Drew Guess (Valparaiso, Ind.) recorded a match-high five shots for Wisconsin Lutheran, which out-shot Grace Christian 14-3. The Warriors held the edge in corner kicks, 3-2, while the Tigers held the edge in fouls, 10-9. Senior
Robert Jenewein (Kenosha, Wis.) and sophomore
Nathan Vasich (Lisle, Ill.) combined for three saves, with Vasich picking up his first collegiate victory.
Aidan Gansert made five saves for GCU (5-3-1).
