PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College recorded its third Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory of the season with a 4-0 shutout over Lakeland on Wednesday at Taylor Field.
The Warriors (6-2-0, 3-1-0 NACC) struck early when sophomore
Alaena Zastrow (De Pere, Wis.) converted a penalty kick in the third minute for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Sophomore
Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) extended the lead with back-to-back unassisted tallies in the 27th and 31st minutes, giving WLC a commanding 3-0 halftime advantage. Sophomore
Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) capped the scoring in the 55th minute with her fourth goal of the year.
Wisconsin Lutheran dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Muskies (0-8-1, 0-5-0 NACC) 18-1 overall and 15-1 in shots on goal. Zastrow and Shade each recorded a team-high four shots, with all of Shade's attempts landing on target. Freshman
Grace Konzak (Cedar Grove, Wis.) added three shots, all on frame. LU's lone attempt came from Alyssa Voigt.
Warriors sophomore goalkeeper
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) earned the win with one save in 45 minutes of action, while junior
Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) and freshman
Ella Malliet (Burlington, Wis.) combined for a scoreless second half. Lakeland keeper Addi Reimer made 11 saves while facing constant pressure.
WLC also held a decisive 16-1 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 66 percent of possession on the night.
