Women’s Soccer Blanks Rockford 6-0, Extends Winning Streak To Four

Best start to a season since 2001

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College continued its strong start to the 2025 season with a decisive 6-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory over Rockford on Saturday at Sam Greeley Field.

The Warriors (7-2-0, 4-1-0 NACC) netted three goals in the opening 10 minutes to take early control. Sophomore Teagan O'Neil (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) opened the scoring in the 3rd minute off a feed from sophomore Alaena Zastrow (De Pere, Wis.). Less than six minutes later, sophomore Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) scored back-to-back goals in the 9th and 10th minutes, assisted by Zastrow and sophomore Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) to push the lead to 3-0.

WLC kept the pressure on in the second half with three more tallies. Sophomore Emma Adema (Sheboygan, Wis.) made it 4-0 in the 49th minute on an unassisted strike. Sophomore Brielle Weise (Neenah, Wis.) added her first career goal in the 60th minute, and sophomore Morgan Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) capped the scoring in the 67th with another unassisted finish.

Wisconsin Lutheran outshot the Regents 51-0 overall and 19-0 in shots on target, while holding an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. Zarling paced the offense with six shots (three on goal) and two goals, while sophomore Payton Schiebel (St. Charles, Minn.) and senior Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) each added eight shots.

Defensively, three different goalkeepers – junior Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.), sophomore Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.), and freshman Ella Malliet (Burlington, Wis.) – combined for the shutout without facing a shot. RU's (1-10-0, 0-5-0 NACC) keepers combined for 13 saves, led by Natasha Toc-Monrroy with nine.

The 6-0 win marks the Warriors' best start to a season since 2001 (7-2-0) and its best-ever start in NACC play (4-1-0). WLC also extended its win streak to four matches, its longest since 2018.

Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to MSOE (6-4-2, 5-0-1 NACC) for a 7 p.m. NACC match at Viets Field. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
