WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College battled visiting Aurora to a 1-1 draw in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action on Wednesday at Warriors Soccer Field.
The Warriors (7-4-1, 4-3-1 NACC) struck first in the 20th minute when sophomore
Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore
Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.). WLC carried the 1-0 lead into halftime after outshooting the Spartans 7-6 in the opening 45 minutes.
AU (2-11-1, 2-6-1 NACC) found the equalizer in the 58th minute as McKenna Kunz scored her fourth goal of the year, assisted by Maura Sikorski's corner kick.
Wisconsin Lutheran finished with a 15-13 advantage in total shots, while Aurora held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Shade paced the Warriors with a match-high seven shots, including four on goal. Kunz led the Spartans with five shots and three on target. Sophomore
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) made six saves in goal for WLC, while Melina Cane stopped eight shots for AU.
