VERONA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up its regular season on Wednesday with a 3-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference setback to Edgewood at Reddan Park. Despite the loss, the Warriors secured the No. 8 seed in the upcoming NACC Tournament for the second straight season.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles broke through with three goals in an 11-minute span early in the second. Greta Blau netted the opener in the 53rd minute and doubled EC's advantage in the 59th minute off an assist from Kamy Luecke. Madi Johnson capped the scoring in the 64th minute.
Edgewood (14-4-1, 10-2-0 NACC) outshot WLC 21-7, including 12-3 on target, and held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper
Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) collected nine saves in 78 minutes of action for Wisconsin Lutheran (7-6-3, 4-5-3 NACC), while senior
Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) led the attack with two shots on goal. Sophomore
Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) added two shots, including one on goal.
Blau paced the Eagles with six shots and three on target. Goalkeeper Emma Swenson earned the shutout with three saves.
The Warriors, the No. 8 seed in the upcoming NACC Tournament, will travel to top-seeded Illinois Tech (16-1-1, 12-0-0 NACC) for a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Stuart Field in Chicago, Illinois.
