MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College opened its 2025 spring season on Saturday with a pair of 7-0 non-conference setbacks to host Cornell College and Loras at Small Sport Center Arena.
The Warriors (0-3) dropped the opening doubles point to the host Rams (2-0), who recorded a pair of 6-3 victories at No. 1 and No. 2. In singles play, senior
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) came up short in a tightly contested contest at No. 1, 7-5, 6-3. Freshman
Myles Harris (Milwaukee, Wis.) also suffered a three-set defeat at No. 5 by scores of 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.Â
WLC fell short against the Duhawks (1-0) in doubles play, dropping the No. 1 and No. 2 matches by scores of 6-3 and 6-1, respectively. Wisconsin Lutheran lost all six singles flights in straight sets, but not without Newberg battling at No. 1 to a 7-6 (6-3), 6-4 result.
The Warriors will next host Wartburg (2-1) on Friday, February 14 in their home opener at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
