Lawrence Tops Wisconsin Lutheran In Non-Conference Dual

Borchert and Perkins pickup win at No. 2 doubles for Warriors

JACKSON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a 7-0 non-conference setback to Lawrence on Sunday at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.

The Warriors' No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Cameron Borchert (Loveland, Colo.) and junior TaDarion Perkins (Milwaukee, Wis.) won for the first time this season by doubling up the Vikings' Gabriel Garcia and Owen Horton, 6-3. LU collected a pair of 6-2 victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to earn the opening point.

Four of the six singles matches featured three-set tiebreakers, all of which ended in favor LU. Andrew Larson edged senior Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) 6-7, 6-3, 10-5 at No. 1, Benjamin Hoppe held off junior Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 at No. 2, Gabriel Garcia got past Borchert 1-6, 6-4, 10-3 at No. 3, and Xander Priest clipped freshman Myles Harris (Milwaukee, Wis.) 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 at No. 5. 

WLC (0-5) travels to Ripon (3-3) on Saturday for an 11 a.m. non-conference dual at Willmore Center.
