Kramer, Montgomery Key WLC's Comeback Win Over Alfred St.

Warriors erase early deficit for second straight win

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Freshman Malachi Kramer (Appleton, Wis.) struckout seven over seven innings and sophomore Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo.) had three hits to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 7-6 comeback win over Alfred St. on Wednesday at Terry Park.

The Pioneers scored the first three runs of the game, one in the first and a pair in the second before the Warriors exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second. Senior Elijah Shevey (Muskego, Wis.) drove in sophomore Ian Rintelman (Muskego, Wis.). Shevey later came around to score on a dropped fly ball hit by junior Oliver Lopeztello (Chicago, Ill.). Montgomery drove in Lopeztello and freshman Ryan Pierquet (Chilton, Wis.) with a double to put WLC in front 4-3. The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth, when Montgomery came around to score on an error to put Wisconsin Lutheran ahead 5-3. The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Noah Zaccanti (Geneva, Ill.) drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Montgomery, and sophomore Colt Ratliff (Oxford, Ga.) scored on a sacrifice fly from Shevey. ASC scored three times in the eighth before junior Lucas Oswald (Muskego, Wis.) came in to shut down the rally in the ninth for his first save, as WLC escaped with a 7-6 victory.

Montgomery tallied three hits for Wisconsin Lutheran, while Rintelman and Pierquet each collected a pair of hits. Montgomery and Shevey both drove in two runs. Kramer earned the win in his first career start, throwing seven innings while only allowing three runs and tallying seven strikeouts. Oswald notched his first career save in 1.2 innings of relief work.

Caleb Walker had two hits and drove in four runs for Alfred St. (7-5).

The Warriors (3-5) return to Terry Park on Thursday for a non-conference matchup with Dean (0-4). First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
