FORT MYERS, Fla. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College couldn't hold onto an early two-run lead as it fell to Dean 10-7 on Thursday at Terry Park.
The Bulldogs plated a pair of runs in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead. The score stayed that way until the bottom of the third, when a grand slam from sophomore
Ian Rintelman (Muskego, Wis.) scored freshman
Ryan Pierquet (Chilton, Wis.), sophomore
Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo.), and senior
Nolan Hodgins (Caledonia, Wis.) to give the Warriors a 4-2 advantage. Their lead quickly vanished as DC scratched across six runs in the top of the fourth to go in front 8-4. WLC picked up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth with a two-RBI single from freshman
Jacob Lorbecki (Richfield, Wis.) that drove in Rintelman and Hodgins. A two-run shot from Dean in the top of the seventh put them back in front by four runs, 10-6. Rintelman scored on a ground ball from freshman
Colin Nigl (Neenah, Wis.) in the bottom of the ninth, but that was all the more Wisconsin Lutheran would muster as they fell short 10-7.
Rintelman went 2-for-5 at the plate collecting four RBI. Pierquet went 3-for-6 and Lorbecki was 2-for-3 while driving in a pair of runs.
Joey Bossinas led the Bulldogs (1-4) by going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Owen Critchley earned the win, throwing five innings, while allowing two earned runs and striking out seven. Kiefer Culligan pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn the save.
