RIVER FOREST, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Wisconsin Lutheran College secured a gritty 4–3 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Concordia Chicago on Sunday, sweeping doubles and riding early singles success at CUC Tennis Courts.
The Warriors (2-11, 2-4 NACC) came out firing in doubles play, earning the critical first point by taking all three matches. The top duo of senior
Aidan Newberg (Manitowoc, Wis.) and junior
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) set the tone with a 6–4 win over the Cougars' Collin Dickey and Reynaldo Leal. WLC clinched the doubles point with back-to-back 7–5 victories at No. 2 and No. 3, courtesy of sophomore

TaDarion Perkins (Milwaukee, Wis.), and freshman

Singles play saw WLC push its lead to 4–0 behind dominant performances from the top of the lineup. Newberg was sharp at No. 1, dispatching Dickey 6–2, 6–2. Borchert followed at No. 3, defeating Leal 6–1, 7–5, before Heezen clinched the match with a comeback win at No. 2 — 5–7, 7–6, 6–1 — fending off a first-set loss to secure Wisconsin Lutheran's fourth point.
CUC (1-11, 0-5 NACC) mounted a late rally, claiming the final three singles matches. Samuel Smith outlasted Perkins in a three-set battle at No. 4 (3–6, 6–4, 6–4), while Kevin Bullens (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Diego Loveshe (6-3, 6-0) picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, to tighten the final score.
The Warriors conclude their regular season slate on Saturday, April 26 with a non-conference match against Lakeland (0-2). First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Hart Park.
