Men’s Soccer Settles For Season-Opening Draw With Ripon

Warriors extend unbeaten streak to nine games against Red Hawks

RIPON, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College opened its 2025 men's soccer season on Friday with a 1–1 non-conference draw against Ripon at Hopp Stadium.

The Warriors (0-0-1) struck first in the 31st minute when sophomore Rafael Galindo (Delavan, Wis.) buried his third collegiate goal. Galindo finished a feed from junior Andrew King (East Moline, Ill.) to put WLC ahead 1–0. The visitors had another scoring chance late in the first half, as freshman Jesus Ramirez Pabon (Milwaukee, Wis.) nearly doubled the lead before halftime, but Red Hawks keeper Drew Seyfer came up with a save in the 44th minute.

RC (0-0-1) pressed for an equalizer in the second half, outshooting Wisconsin Lutheran 9–3 after the break. Ripon finally broke through in the 87th minute when Brodie Hoth converted after Matthew Hegge's setup pass. The goal leveled the match at 1–1, but the Warriors still had chances to steal the win late. Freshman Bogdan Tereshchenko (Green Bay, Wis.) fired wide in the 88th minute followed by consecutive corner kicks, but the match ended even.

The Red Hawks finished with a 12–8 advantage in shots, but WLC held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks and a 16-8 foul margin. Ramirez Pabon posted a team-high three shots for Wisconsin Lutheran. Sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Lambert (Green Bay, Wis.) tallied three saves, while Seyfer stopped two for the Red Hawks. Ivan Barrientos also tied a match-high with three shots for RC.

The Warriors travel to River Falls on Monday for a 1 p.m. non-conference matchup with host UW-River Falls (0-1-0). Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
