RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered a 2-1 setback to UW-River Falls in non-conference action on Monday at Ramer Field.
The Warriors jumped ahead in the 19th minute when junior
Drew Guess (Valparaiso, Ind.) netted his first career goal off an assist from freshman
George O'Connor (Chesterton, Ind.), giving WLC an early 1-0 lead.
The visitors carried that advantage into halftime behind strong defensive play and three first-half saves from sophomore goalkeeper
Aaron Lambert (Green Bay, Wis).
The Falcons responded quickly after the break, leveling the score in the 53rd minute when Oscar Moline finished a chance created by Josh Villanueva. Just five minutes later, UW-River Falls surged in front as Sorel Richardson tallied his second goal of the year, assisted by Moline, in the 58th minute.
Despite generating nine second-half shots and testing the Falcons' goalkeeper with several dangerous looks, including two in the final three minutes, Wisconsin Lutheran was unable to find an equalizer. Freshman
Jesus Ramirez Pabon (Milwaukee, Wis.) tallied three of the Warriors' 12 shots. Lambert finished with three saves. Sorel Richardson paced the Falcons (1-1-0) with four shots, while Josh Bates stopped five shots to preserve the victory.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1-1) travels to Beloit (1-1-0) on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
