ALBION, Mich. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College wrapped up its opening weekend of the 2025 season on Saturday by splitting a pair of non-conference matches at the Albion Invitational. The Warriors defeated Elmhurst 3-1 in their opening match, before falling to Anderson (IN) 3-1 in the finale.
WLC recorded its first win of the young season by taking care of Elmhurst in four sets by scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21. Senior
Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded a match-high 13 kills for Wisconsin Lutheran. Senior
Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) added 11 kills and a career-high 10 digs for a double-double, while freshman
Lauren Charbonneau (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) also tallied a double-double with 28 assists and 14 digs. Biggin and Charbonneau combined for six of the team's nine service aces. Biggin and sophomore
Elexa Varden (Dixon, Ill.) registered four block assists each.
Keely Larson had 10 kills, Freddie Temple had 28 assists, and Alexis Casey had 15 digs for the Blue Jays (0-3).
Anderson outlasted the Warriors in four sets in their weekend finale by scores of 30-28, 25-13, 13-25, 25-23. Biggin led all players with 14 kills, and Wigley added a double-double of 10 kills and 15 digs. Charbonneau collected 27 assists in addition to eight digs. Sophomore
Lorelai Gallo (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) amassed a career-high 14 digs and three service aces. Senior
Emily Marohn (Reedsville, Wis.) also reached a career-best 14 digs.
Jayda Lanham had 12 digs, Blythe Young had 37 assists, and Lacy Rathbun had 23 digs for the Ravens (2-1).
