MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to Carroll on Wednesday at Time of Grace Center. The Warriors fell in straight sets to the Pioneers by scores of 29-27, 25-18, and 25-21.
WLC battled through a back-and-forth opening frame that featured eight ties and three lead changes. The Warriors held set point late at 25-24, but the Pioneers pulled out a 29-27 victory. Carroll carried that momentum into the second set, racing ahead 5-0 early and never looking back for a 25-18 win. Wisconsin Lutheran held the lead for the majority of the third set, leading by as many as five at 15-10, but Carroll climbed back to secure the sweep with a 25-21 decision.
Senior
Lydia Biggin (Burlington, Wis.) paced the Warriors with a team-high nine kills and a pair of service aces. Freshman
Lauren Charbonneau (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) dished out a match-high 34 assists, while senior
Kayla Wigley (Milwaukee, Wis.) collected a team-best 10 digs to anchor the back row.
For Carroll (5-4), Carly Hicklin led all players with 11 kills, Payton Depies handed out 23 assists, and Maggie McGough tallied a match-high 11 digs.
The Warriors (2-5) are back in action Friday in Chicago at the Windy City Invitational, where they'll face Franklin (4-3) and host North Park (6-2) at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
