WLC Falls 2-1 To Knox In Non-Conference Finale

Dukic nets first career goal for Warriors

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to Knox on Sunday at Warriors Soccer Field in non-conference action.

After a scoreless first half, the Prairie Fire (2-1-2) broke through in the 56th minute when Thomas Sánchez Madden netted his first goal of the season assisted by Arito Nakamichi. Knox doubled its advantage in the 83rd minute on an unassisted tally from Kestervens Dera, his third of the season.

The Warriors (1-5-1) responded quickly, as freshman Caleb Dukic (Franklin, Wis.) scored his first career goal just 41 seconds later in the 84th minute to cut the deficit in half. Despite late pressure, WLC was unable to find the equalizer.

Knox held a 14-5 advantage in total shots and 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Dera led all players with four shots, while junior Aydan Scortino (Pewaukee, Wis.), freshman Dominic Mala (Franklin, Wis.), and Dukic each recorded a shot on goal for Wisconsin Lutheran. In net, Knox's Diogo Pereira earned the win with two saves. Warriors sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Lambert (Green Bay, Wis.) made one stop while facing 14 shots.

WLC opens Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Saturday when it travels to Mequon for a 3 p.m. matchup with Concordia Wisconsin (1-2-2). Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
