Record-Tying Tuesday Night For Wisconsin Lutheran Women's Soccer

Total goals and total points vs. Maranatha Baptist match record high

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College scored early and often on Tuesday at Warriors Soccer Field, matching a school record with 12 goals and 32 points in a 12-0 non-conference victory over Maranatha Baptist. Eleven different players found the back of the net for the Warriors (3-1-0).

WLC wasted no time grabbing the lead, as senior Brooke Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.) opened the scoring in the 5th minute off a pass from her sister sophomore Morgan Bluhm (New Berlin, Wis.). The Warriors added five more first-half goals: freshman Grace Konzak (Cedar Grove, Wis.) (19') from sophomore Julia Ash (San Diego, Calif.), freshman Bethany Provan (Delafield, Wis.) (21) from sophomore Brielle Weise (Neenah, Wis.), sophomore Alaena Zastrow (De Pere, Wis.) (32') from sophomores Emma Adema (Sheboygan, Wis.), sophomore Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) (37') from sophomore Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.), and Ava Zarling (43') from Shade.

Carrying a 6-0 lead into the break, Wisconsin Lutheran continued its offensive outburst in the second half. Ava Zarling tallied her second of the night in the 47th minute on a feed from Provan. Sophomore Ellie Ericson (Mequon, Wis.) (57') scored her first career goal assisted by sophomore Belle Zarling (Mount Pleasant, Wis.), followed by freshman Jenna Szymborski (Sherrard, Ill.) (70'), Belle Zarling (80'), freshman Hannah Uebele (Germantown, Wis.) (81'), and Ash (84') to complete the scoring.

In all, 11 different Warriors scored, and eight different players recorded assists. WLC dominated the stat sheet with a 40-1 advantage in shots, including 27 on goal.

Sophomore Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) and freshman Ella Malliet (Burlington, Wis.) combined for the shutout, with Malliet making the lone save needed. Maranatha's Chloe Dodd stopped 15 shots in the setback.

Wisconsin Lutheran plays its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game on Saturday at Concordia Wisconsin (1-1-3). Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Fitting Field in Mequon. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
