Men’s Tennis Topped In Fall Opener At St. Ambrose

Mattek, Nelson win at No. 3 doubles for WLC

ELDRIDGE, Iowa (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a 7-0 non-conference decision to St. Ambrose on Friday.

The Fighting Bees (4-1) opened the match by taking two of three doubles contests to secure the opening point. The Warriors' lone highlight came at No. 3 doubles, where junior Aidan Mattek (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Zach Nelson (Watertown, Wis.) earned a 6-4 victory over Austin Hutton and Marcus Lang.

St. Ambrose went on to sweep all six singles flights in straight sets. Senior Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) battled at the top of WLC's lineup, but fell 6-3, 6-0 to Sebastian Arevalo. Junior Cameron Borchert (Loveland, Colo.) was defeated 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while senior TaDarion Perkins (Milwaukee, Wis.) dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 3. Sophomore Myles Harris (Milwaukee, Wis.) (6-0, 6-0), Mattek (6-2, 6-0), and Nelson (6-0, 6-0) rounded out the lineup for Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1).

The Warriors next host Lawrence (0-0) on Sunday, October 5 at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. The match begins at 11 a.m.
