WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped a 3-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference decision to Benedictine (IL) on Saturday at Warriors Soccer Field.
The Eagles (3-3-2, 2-0-1 NACC) struck first in the 15th minute when Alex Krzos netted an unassisted goal. Just four minutes later, the Warriors (1-7-2, 0-2-1 NACC) answered back as junior
Andrew King (East Moline, Ill.) tallied his first goal of the season off an assist from freshman Jesus Ramírez Pabon (Milwaukee, Wis.) to even the match at 1-1.
The game remained level until the 80th minute, when Krzos converted a penalty kick to put BenU ahead 2-1. Benedictine added an insurance goal in the 88th minute as Carter Boberg finished off a feed from Dawid Molek.
WLC outshot the Eagles 19-10 overall, including a 13-5 margin in the second half, but could not capitalize on its opportunities. King led Wisconsin Lutheran with three shots on goal, while Ramírez Pabon, senior
Jack Leffel (Germantown, Wis.), and sophomore
Rolando Colin (Waukegan, Ill.) each recorded three shots. Krzos paced the BenU with two goals on two shots on target.
In net, Benedictine goalkeeper Jordan Rolon stopped eight shots for the win. For the Warriors, sophomores
Aaron Lambert (Green Bay, Wis.) and
Owen Gault (Moline, Ill.) combined for three saves, with Gault making two over 71 minutes of action.
