MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College earned its first Overwatch victory of the season on Wednesday, March 18, defeating the CVTC Otters in convincing fashion with a 3-0 sweep.
The Warriors entered the Week 4 matchup searching for their first win of the season at 0-3, while the Otters came in with a 1-2 record after being swept the previous week.
WLC came out strong on the opening map, winning team fight after team fight and never letting up. Wisconsin Lutheran dominated the map 2-0 while recording a combined four deaths as a team.
CVTC selected the second map in hopes of turning the match around, but the Warriors continued their strong play. WLC elected to attack first and quickly captured all three points before shifting to defense. The Otters' push proved ineffective, allowing Wisconsin Lutheran to secure the map 3-1 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Facing elimination, the Otters made one final map selection, but the Warriors were determined to close out the match. The deciding map featured back-and-forth action throughout its 10-minute duration, but WLC pushed the payload farther than CVTC to complete the 3-0 sweep and improve to 1-3 on the season.
Wisconsin Lutheran will have a league-wide bye week before returning to action on Tuesday, March 31. The match will be streamed live on Twitch at @wlc_esports.
