GLENDALE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener, falling 7-0 to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday at Elite Sports Club-North Shore.
The Raiders (4-9, 1-0 NACC) set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, senior
Connor Heezen (Pulaski, Wis.) and junior
Cameron Borchert (Loveland, Colo.) were defeated 6-2 by Randy Funez and Carlos Lopez. MSOE also claimed decisive wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, as senior
TaDarion Perkins (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore
Myles Harris (Milwaukee, Wis.), along with junior
Aidan Mattek (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman
Zach Nelson, were each swept 6-0.
In singles play, Milwaukee School of Engineering secured straight-set victories across all six flights to complete the sweep. Heezen fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to Miguel Lopez, while Borchert dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Funez at No. 2. Perkins (No. 3) and Nelson (No. 6) were also defeated in straight sets.
Harris won one game in the opening set at No. 4 before falling 6-1, 6-0 to Carlos Lopez. Mattek also took a game at No. 5 singles, falling 6-1, 6-0 to Emilio Ulloa.
The Warriors (0-7, 0-1 NACC) will next host Concordia Chicago (0-11, 0-1 NACC) tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson.
