GLENDALE, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College dropped both games of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference twinbill to league-leading MSOE on Monday, 14-0 and 7-2, at MSOE Raiders Stadium.
Game 1: MSOE 14, Wisconsin Lutheran 0 (7 Inn.)
The Raiders (23-7, 14-2 NACC) scored in four different innings, including a four-run third, four-run fifth, and four-run sixth to pull away.
MSOE struck first in the opening inning on an RBI single before adding another run on a steal of home. The Raiders broke the game open in the third with a three-run double to make it 6-0.
MSOE continued its offensive surge in the fifth, tallying four runs on five hits. The Raiders added four more runs in the sixth, highlighted a two-run double and an RBI single.
Junior
Ian Rintelman (Muskego, Wis.) led the Warriors at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk, while sophomore
Jacob Lorbecki (Richfield, Wis.) and freshman
Hunter Herbst (West Bend, Wis.) added one hit apiece.
Teo Greco paced MSOE offensively, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored. Camden Hoier finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs, while Jake Franks drove in three runs and recorded two hits. JJ Jackson earned the win for the Raiders, allowing just one hit over five shutout innings while striking out three and walking two.
Game 2: MSOE 7, Wisconsin Lutheran 2
WLC (8-21, 2-12 NACC) struck first in the second inning when Lorbecki launched a two-run homerun to left-center, scoring junior
Aiden Montgomery (St. Louis, Mo.) for an early 2-0 lead.
MSOE answered in the fourth, tying the game on a two-run single before taking the lead on an RBI double. The Raiders broke the game open in the fifth, plating three runs behind an RBI groundout and a two-run single to extend the advantage to 6-2. MSOE added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single.
Wisconsin Lutheran finished with eight hits, led by Lorbecki, who went 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs. Junior
Colt Ratliff (Oxford, Ga.) also had a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-4, while senior
Oliver Lopeztello (Chicago, Ill.) added two hits off the bench. Sophomore
Nate Dudek (Tinley Park, Ill.) and senior
Eli Michaelis (Wauwatosa, Wis.) each contributed a hit as well.
Hoier paced the Raiders' attack, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Christian Bosque was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Robby Erickson drove in two runs. Max Babich earned the win in relief for MSOE, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out four. Aagam Shah followed with three shutout innings to close the game with the save.
