LISLE, Ill. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College erupted for three second-half goals on Saturday to secure a 3-1 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory over Benedictine at Village of Lisle-Benedictine Sports Complex.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Warriors broke through just four minutes into the second half. Freshman Gracie Schmidt (Cedar Grove, Wis.) opened the scoring at the 49:01 mark with an unassisted tally, her second goal of the season.

Just 18 seconds later, junior Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) doubled the lead, finishing a setup from junior Julia Ash (San Diego, Calif.) in the 50th minute for her third goal of the year.

Junior Ava Collyard (Richfield, Wis.) picked up her first assist of the match in the 59th minute, feeding junior Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.), who buried her team-leading sixth goal of the campaign to give WLC a commanding 3-0 advantage.

The Eagles answered in the 72nd minute when Audrey Powlick scored an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Wisconsin Lutheran's defense held firm down the stretch to lock down the conference road win.

The Warriors held the advantage across team statistical categories, outshooting BenU 14-10 and generating eight corner kicks while conceding zero to Benedictine.

Zarling paced WLC's attack with a match-high three shot attempts, while Schmidt, Shade, and Ash contributed two shots apiece. In goal, junior Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) recorded six saves over 90 minutes to earn the victory for Wisconsin Lutheran.

For the Eagles (2-6-0, 1-2-0 NACC), Powlick, Brithany Mondragon, and Klara Cicha shared the team lead in shots with two attempts each. Goalkeeper Alanna Noone finished with two saves in a full 90-minute effort.

The Warriors (6-1-0, 2-1-0 NACC) return home on Wednesday to host Lakeland (2-7-0, 1-3-0 NACC) at Warriors Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. for Alumni Night.
