WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College kicked off its home schedule in emphatic fashion on Sunday, securing a 4-0 non-conference victory over Martin Luther at Warriors Soccer Field.

The Warriors (3-0-0) wasted no time setting the tone, finding the back of the net just 20 seconds into the match. Junior Ava Zarling (Jackson, Wis.) beat the keeper unassisted for her third goal of the season, giving WLC a lead it would never relinquish.

Wisconsin Lutheran doubled its advantage in the 15th minute when junior Emma Adema (Sheboygan, Wis.) scored her first goal of the year off a well-placed assist from junior Joleigh Blahnik (De Pere, Wis.). The Warriors dominated the opening frame, outshooting the Knights 12-0 and heading into halftime with a 2-0 cushion.

The offensive pressure continued immediately in the second half. In the 47th minute, junior Ginny Shade (Thornton, Colo.) converted a penalty kick to extend the lead to 3-0. Less than two minutes later, Adema struck again for her second goal of the match, finishing passes from Shade and Zarling at the 48:05 mark.

WLC's defense was impenetrable throughout the contest, holding MLC (1-1-1) to just two total shots, neither of which were on target. Junior Sam Schroeder (Brookfield, Wis.) earned the win, playing the first 45 minutes, while senior Kallista Street (Kenosha, Wis.) completed the clean sheet in the second half.

Wisconsin Lutheran finished the match with a staggering 29-2 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks. Martin Luther goalkeeper Maria Vik kept the score from climbing further, recording 12 saves in the loss.

The Warriors look to keep their perfect record intact when they travel to Beloit (0-2-0) next Sunday, September 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
