Pair of hat tricks power Warriors past Alverno

MILWAUKEE - Meta Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Kari Slovik (Eagle, Wis./Luther Preparatory) each scored three goals to propel the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team to a 7-1 win over Alverno College on Tuesday afternoon at Alverno.

Kolander scored her first of two first half goals in the fourth minute of the game off an assist from Ashley Poetter (Federal Way, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran). Slovik added the second Warriors' goal in the 12th minute to put WLC up 2-0. In the 26th minute, Jessica Ide (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead. Kolander added her second goal of the half in the 30th minute, making the score 4-0 heading into the half.

In the second half, Slovik added two more goals in the 47th and 84th minute, respectively, while Kolander added her third goal of the game in the 57th minute. WLC attempted 29 total shots in the contest, while the Inferno were able to muster only five shots.

Wisconsin Lutheran (2-11, 2-5 NAC) will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Sheboygan for a Northern Athletics Conference game against Lakeland College beginning at 1 p.m.
