MEQUON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Monday afternoon
with a 4-0 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in the first
round of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.
The No. 4 seeded Falcons, who defeated No. 5 seed Wisconsin
Lutheran 4-2 in their first meeting of the season on October 20,
scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the opening half for a
2-0 lead.
Concordia's Brian Nord, who tallied a hat trick, netted the
first two Falcon goals in the ninth and 13th minute, respectively.
The Warriors trailed 2-0 heading into intermission.
The Falcons scored two more second half goals in the 62nd of
85th minute off the foot of Nord and David Bringer, respectively,
for what would turn out to be the final 4-0 margin.
Despite eight corner kick attempts, WLC managed only three shots
in the contest, opposed to 19 for Concordia. Matt Eisold
(Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and Alex Vogel (Jackson, Wis./Kettle
Moraine Lutheran) combined to make 10 saves in the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its 2007 with an overall record of
10-9-1 overall and 6-3-1 in NAC play. The 10-win season is the most
in WLC men's soccer history.
