MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on
Saturday, falling to Carroll College 73-71 at the Wisconsin
Basketball Classic held at the Recreation Complex.
Marcus Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) led the Warriors with 27
points and six rebounds, while Christian Lindberg (Horsens,
Denmark) added 18.
Wisconsin Lutheran held a slim 33-30 lead at halftime, only to
see the Pioneers come back in the second half and grab an eight
point advantage with 9:20 remaining. Carroll led 73-71 as WLC had a
chance to win the game in its final possession, but Lindberg's
three-pointer fell off the front of the rim as time expired.
The Warriors turned the ball over only nine times in the game,
while Carroll had 16 turnovers. The Pioneers shots 51 percent
(26-51) from the field, compared to 40 percent (24-60) for WLC.
Wes Ladwig, who was the lone Pioneer to reach double digits on
the day, paced Carroll (2-2) with a game-high 36 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-3) opens the Northern Athletics Conference
portion of its schedule on December 1 when it travels to Rockford
College. Tip-off between the Warriors and Regents is slated for
4:15 p.m. at Seaver Gym.
