MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team shot 52.2 percent from beyond the arc and
fought off a second half charge to defeat the Dominican University
Stars 89-73 on Saturday night in a Northern Athletics Conference
game at the Recreation Complex.
After falling behind 3-0, Wisconsin Lutheran rattled off the
next 14 points to build a lead that it would never relinquish.
Danny Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), who finished
with 20 points on the night, scored the Warriors' first 10 points
of the game.
WLC, which led by as many as 27 in the first half, went into the
halftime break with a commanding 52-27 advantage. The Warriors shot
56.3 percent (18-32) in the half and turned 11 Dominican turnovers
into 22 points.
Dominican opened the second half of action with a 9-0 run as the
Warriors failed to score a single point for the first 4:40 of the
half. Marcus Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph), who poured in a
game-high 21 points, helped turn the momentum back in the Warriors'
favor as he knocked down three second half treys.
Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and Christian
Lindberg (Horsens, Denmark) added 17 and 14, respectively.
Ironically, both teams shots 50.8 percent (31-61 from the floor,
but WLC connected on 12 of 23 three-points field goals, compared to
6 of 18 for the Stars. The Warriors turned the ball over only nine
times in the game.
Dominican (3-4, 1-2 NAC) was paced by Javon Turley's 19 points
off the bench.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-2, 1-1 NAC) is off until Sunday, December
16 when it travels to Fond du Lac to take on Marian College in a
NAC game at 7 p.m.
