MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team had five players finish in double figures as
the Warriors defeated the MSOE Raiders 82-78 in a Northern
Athletics Conference thriller downtown at the Kern Center on
Saturday afternoon.
Danny Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), Christian
Lindberg (Horsens, Denmark) and Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva,
Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) scored 15 points apiece, while Marcus
Zondag (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) and Nate Sorum (Mequon,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
After seven first half lead changes, MSOE used an 8-2 run to
close out the first half and headed into the locker room in front
45-37.
The Warriors grabbed their first lead of the second half at the
10:01 mark, 65-63. MSOE answered with a 10-2 run to lead 73-67 with
6:49 left. With WLC leading 76-75 at the 3:19 mark, Behm scored the
Warriors' final six points, including a steal and lay up with one
second left to seal the win.
Wisconsin Lutheran struggled from the charity stripe, going just
9 of 19. The Warriors shot 51.7 percent from the floor for the
game, including a sizzling 59.1 percent (13-22) from behind the
arc.
MSOE won the rebounding battle 37-26, holding a 15-8 advantage
on the offensive glass.
Andy Voigt scored a game-high 25 points to pace three players in
double figures for MSOE (7-7, 3-4 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-4, 2-3 NAC) continues its nine-game road
trip on Tuesday when it travels to Watertown to face Maranatha
Baptist Bible College at 7 p.m.
