Eagles use big second half to down Warriors

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team was defeated by the Edgewood College Eagles 4-0 in a Northern Athletics Conference game Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Edgewood, which blanked the Warriors in first half shot attempts 14-0, got on the scoreboard at the 18:49 mark of the opening half. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Eagles until halftime.

Wisconsin Lutheran trailed only 1-0 until the 71st minute of the second half when Edgewood scored three goals in a span of just over six minutes to put an end to the Warriors' upset bid.

Freshman Trish Mahnke (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) attempted each of WLC's two shots in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) made 14 saves for the Warriors.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-12, 3-6 NAC) travels to Lisle, Ill., on Wednesday for a NAC matchup against the Benedictine University Eagles at 7 p.m.
