Second-half surge sends Benedictine past Wisconsin Lutheran

LISLE, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team was blanked by the Benedictine University Eagles 3-0 in a Northern Athletics Conference match on Wednesday evening.

Wisconsin Lutheran played to a scoreless tie with Benedictine through the first 45 minutes of action, despite out-shooting the Eagles 7-5 in the opening half.

The match remained scoreless up until the 68:31 mark of the second period when Benedictine netted its first goal for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles padded their lead with two more goals within the final 20 minutes of play.

The Warriors finished with 15 shots attempted in the contest, while Benedictine posted 19 shots. Freshman Trish Mahnke (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) paced WLC with six shot attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) had five saves.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-13, 3-7 NAC) hosts Concordia University Wisconsin in its final home conference match of the regular season on Saturday. Kickoff between the Warriors and Falcons is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Warrior Field.
