Track & Field teams compete at UWP Open

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College men's and women's track & field teams competed against more than 20 teams in the Nike/Impact Sports UW-Platteville Open on Saturday at the Williams Fieldhouse.

Junior Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) highlighted the men's team by breaking the school record in the 5,000-meter run by placing fourth with a time of 15:38.62.

Jess Riege (West Allis, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) broke the school record in the 20-pound weight throw by placing 10th with a mark of 44-04.25 (13.52 meters). Beth Windschitl (Sleepy Eye, Minn./Minnesota Valley Lutheran) just missed breaking her own school-record time in the mile run by less than one second with a time of 5:48.69.

The Warriors were one of two NAC schools that competed at the meet in which team scores were not taken.

Wisconsin Lutheran is off this week before it will compete in the 2008 NAC Indoor Championship on February 29 at Carthage College in Kenosha.
