MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team was knocked-off by the Concordia University
Chicago Cougars 93-79 Wednesday in a Northern Athletics Conference
game at the Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to a 17-7 lead at the 15:41 mark
of the first half, scoring 15 of its first 17 points on three-point
field goals. The Cougars climbed back, taking a 31-30 with 6:45
left. CUC proceeded to take a 44-38 lead into halftime. WLC shot
35.3 percent in the first half, while Concordia Chicago shot 56.7
percent.
The Warriors tied the score at 49-49 with 16:49 left in the
second half, but never held a lead as the Cougars held at least a
six-point lead from the 13:02 mark on.
WLC finished the game shooting 37.1 percent, including just 28.2
percent (11-39) from beyond the arc. It was the Warriors' worst
performance from downtown since November 24 when they shot 22.6
percent (7-31) against Carroll College.
Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) scored 18
points to pace the Warriors. Marcus Zondag (Randolph,
Wis./Randolph) posted a double-double with 17 points and 10
rebounds. Nate Sorum (Mequon, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Danny
Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) each added 14.
Concordia Chicago out-rebounded the Warriors, who turned the
ball over a season-low eight times, 41-35.
Ryan Young scored a career-high 34 points to pace three players
in double figures for Concordia Chicago (4-20, 3-14 NAC). James
Morgan grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (17-7, 11-6 NAC) closes out its regular
season on Saturday playing host to the Concordia University
Wisconsin Falcons at 7:15 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
