CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
softball team suffered an 11-0 setback to Clark (Mass.) Thursday
morning in five innings at the Gene Cusic Classic. The Warriors
fell to 1-4 on their spring trip while CU improved to 7-3
overall.
The Crusaders took a 3-0 lead after the first and used a six-run
second to go up 9-0. They added two more runs in the third.
Freshman Jamie Matz (Hortonville, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) had
an infield single in the third and sophomore Ashley Zautner (Sun
Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) dropped in a base hit down the right
field line for the first career at-bat.
Sophomore Jenny Boelk (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran)
pitched all five innings and gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits.
She also struck out three batters in her first loss (0-1) of the
season.
