AURORA, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
baseball team was swept by the Aurora University Spartans in a
doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Solfisburg Park.
In game one of the twinbill, the Warriors tallied 11 hits but
failed to capitalize by only posting two runs. Aurora scored 13
runs off of 15 hits to win the game 13-2.
Freshman Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport)
started and finished on the mound for Wisconsin Lutheran by
throwing a complete game. Backhaus took the loss while striking out
five and walking four.
The second game at Solfisburg Park ended with by the score 12-4
in the Spartans favor. The Spartans posted 17 hits including two
home runs to come away with their second victory of the day.
Junior Cody Schmidt (Union City, Okla./Union City) started on
the mound for Wisconsin Lutheran going three innings.
Freshman Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) led WLC
offensively while going 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Senior Chris Glasel
(Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) also had a good game at the
plate with two hits and two runs scored.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-17, 1-8 NAC) hosts Edgewood College on
Monday in a doubleheader at Neumann Family Field. First pitch is
scheduled for 1 p.m.
