Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Box score

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball team swept a pair of games from the MSOE Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Neumann Family Field by scores of 14-12 and 4-3, respectively.

Wisconsin Lutheran sprinted out of the gate, scoring seven runs in the first inning. MSOE scored five runs in the third, but the Warriors answered right back with four of their own.

Down 13-5 after four innings, the Raiders would storm back to cut the deficit to two, but the Warriors hung on, winning the game 14-12.

Wisconsin Lutheran finished with a season-high 19 hits in the game. Almost half of those hits were claimed by Chris Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and A.J. Paczocha (Cudahy, Wis./Union Grove Christian).

Glasel went 4-for-5 with a run and two RBIs and Paczocha went 5-for-5 with two doubles, four runs and an RBI. Ryan Pollesch (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) also went 2-for-5 with five RBIs and a run scored.

Austin Backhaus (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) pitched seven innings to earn the win, and reliever Brandon Hutsen (Oconomowoc, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) threw two key innings to hold the lead for the Warriors.

Pitching was the story in the second game. After five innings, the Warriors found themselves down 1-0. Wisconsin Lutheran, though, got on the board and scored three times in the sixth inning.

MSOE scored a run in the seventh and eighth inning to tie the score at three. In the bottom of the eighth, Matt Essig (Lewiston, Minn./Luther) drove in Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) for the winning run.

Essig led WLC by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Ferrell went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and a walk.

Josh Lemke (Brillion, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran), was outstanding tossing a complete game, allowing only three runs, one walk and striking out two.

Wisconsin Lutheran (5-19, 4-10 NAC) travels to Schaumberg, Ill., on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Dominican University Stars. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Alexian Field.
