NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A select number of athletes
from the Wisconsin Lutheran College track & field team competed
in the Gregory Invitational at North Central College that concluded
on Friday.
Beth Windschitl (Sleepy Eye, Minn./Minnesota Valley Lutheran)
capped off her senior year competing in the 5,000 meter run. She
improved her school record set the previous week by another six
seconds racing to a time of 18:47.68. Proving to be a solid 18
minute 5k runner with her back-to back-weeks of 18:53 and 18:47!!!
"Beth has matured into a competitor and has been a pleasure to
coach these past four years!" says head coach Steve Travis.
Sarah Hudson (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) was the lone thrower to
compete in the last week of the track & field season, competing
in the hammer throw. Sarah improved her season average with a
couple of mid 30 meter tosses.
Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) raced the
5,000 meter, finishing with a time of 15:02.51. "Zach has a drive
to be the best he can be and in that the goal to compete at the
NCAA National Meet," says Travis. "This season he improved his 5k
best from last spring by nearly a half minute, but he and I both
know that he is much closer than the 19 second gap form his
personal best of 14:55.40 to a qualifying time of 14:36. He has a
mid 14 in him and next season will produce multiple 14's, but now
its time to focus on the cc season ahead!"
Wisconsin Lutheran finishes its outdoor season at the Augustan
Twilight on Thursday and Friday.
