ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Junior Matt Moeller
(Clinton Mich./Clinton) and sophomore Ryan Timm (New Ulm,
Minn./Minnesota Valley Lutheran) competed in a late season
decathlon that wrapped-up on May 16 at Augustana College.
Moeller won the event, while also improving on his school
record. Matt scored 5,824 points between the 10 events, just 176
points shy of a national provisional qualifying mark. Two of his
top three point earning events were contested on the first day -
the 100 in a time of 11.58 = 736 points and the 400 in a time of
52.33 = 710 points. His first event of day two was the 110 hurdles
in a time of 15.6 = 751 points.
In Timm's first decathlon, his top three point earning events
where contested on day one - the 100 in a time of 11.28 = 799
points, the 400 in a time of 52.93 = 685 points and the shot put
with a toss of 38-6 good for 590 points. Ryan's score of 5171
points placed him third overall.
Tyler Schroeder (Sparta, Wis./Bangor) raced to a season personal
best in the 800 meter run, while Blake Miller (Milwaukee,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) raced the 1500. Both had goals of faster
times, but both had a solid season. Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) placed fourth in the 1,500 with a time of
4:12.09.
With 24 records broke between the indoor and outdoor seasons,
2008 marked the sixth straight5 season that the Warriors have
broken 20 or more school records.
