ROCKFORD, Ill. - Freshman Trish Mahnke
(Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) scored three goals and
assisted on another to help lead Wisconsin Lutheran College women's
soccer team past Rockford College 7-4 on Wednesday at Sam Greeley
Field.
Mahnke scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game to
give the Warriors a quick 2-0 lead. She later assisted on a Mary
Kolterjahn (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay) goal at the 32:03 mark
of the opening half. Mahnke added her final goal one second before
the first half came to an end to give WLC a 4-1 advantage at the
break.
Meta Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), Catie
Schultz (Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) and Ashley Poetter
(Federal Way, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each found the back of the
net in the second half for Wisconsin Lutheran, which picked up its
first win of the season.
Kathryn Koepke (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) made five
saves in the game for the Warriors, who edged out Rockford in the
shot attempt column, 21-20.
Wendy Murphy led the Regents (1-2, 0-1 NAC) with a goal on seven
shot attempts.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-6, 1-0 NAC) faces crosstown rival MSOE on
Saturday at 1 p.m. at Uihlein Soccer Park.
