Women's Soccer escapes with 1-0 win over Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team put a halt to its six-game losing skid by defeating the Lakeland College Muskies 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference contest.

Despite being outshot 8-0 in the first half, Wisconsin Lutheran played through a scoreless opening period with host Lakeland.

Junior Meta Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) broke the scoreless tie at the 59:35 mark of the second half when she found the back of the net off a rebound. All five of WLC's shots came in the second half. Junior Katie Sloan (Omaha, Neb./Nebraska Lutheran) preserved with win by making seven saves for the Warriors.

Kristina Borts finished with a game-high five shots for the Muskies (2-11, 1-6 NAC), who tallied 15 for the game. Whitney England made a pair of saves.

After playing its last four games on the road, Wisconsin Lutheran (4-10, 2-6 NAC) returns home to Warrior Field on Wednesday for a NAC match against the Concordia University Chicago Cougars at 5 p.m.
