STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's basketball team shot 56.3 percent from the floor on its way to defeating Wisconsin Lutheran College 105-43 on Saturday in a non-conference game at Bennett Court inside the Quandt Fieldhouse.

The Pointers (9-1), who are ranked fourth in NCAA Division III according to the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, stormed out to an 18-2 lead over the Warriors at the 14:17 mark of the first half. WLC quickly responded with a 7-0 run to cut its deficit to nine points, but that would be the closest it would get. UWSP answered with a 13-0 run to lead by 22 points (31-9) before heading into the locker room at halftime in front 45-20.

UW-Stevens Point maintained its stellar performance in the second half by going on a number of scoring runs, while holding the Warriors to 25.9 percent shooting. The Pointers also out-scored WLC 11-0 in points off turnovers in the half.

Senior Sam Siemers (Nicollet, Minn./Minnesota Valley Lutheran) and freshman Tim Demuth (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) scored eight points each to pace Wisconsin Lutheran. WLC was held to its lowest point total since December 30, 2004, when it scored 42 points against the same Pointers, who were the top ranked team in the country at the time.

The Warriors finished the game shooting 24.5 percent (13-for-53), while the Pointers shot 56.3 percent (40-for-71) from the floor. UWSP out-rebounded WLC 54-21 and held a 24-2 advantage in second-chance points.

Jordan Giordana scored a game-high 14 points off the bench to lead Stevens Point, which saw all 14 of its players reach the scoring column in the game. UWSP's bench combined to score 65 points in the contest.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-6, 3-0 NAC) returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 6 when it hosts Silver Lake College in a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at the Recreation Complex.
