KENOSHA, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's track & field team placed fourth out of nine teams on
Saturday at the 2009 Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Track
& Field Championship at Carthage College's Tarble Athletic
& Recreation Center.
Junior Dominique Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent) placed first
in the triple jump with a school-record and NCAA provisional
qualifying jump of 14.50 meters. Johnson also finished third in
both the 55-meter dash and the long jump. His time of 6.66 in the
55-meter dash was good for a school record. He finished with a mark
of 6.69 meters in the long jump.
Junior Ryan Timm (New Ulm, Minn./Minnesota Valley Lutheran) also
qualified for the finals of the 55-meter dash, placing sixth with a
time of 6.84. Senior Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) placed second and fourth in the 5000 meters and 3000
meters, respectively. Fellow senior Rick LaFleur placed fifth and
sixth in the weight throw (13.97 meters) and shot put (12.85
meters), respectively.
The Warriors placed fourth in the final standings with 52
points. Concordia University Wisconsin won the team title with 221
points.
Wisconsin Lutheran will be back in action next Friday, March 6
when it competes at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
