ORLANDO, Fla. - The WLC baseball team recorded its first win of the 2009 season with a 3-0 victory over Newbury College in the second day of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings until the Warriors scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Cody Schmidt (Union City, Okla./Union City) RBI groundout that drove in John Bodnar (Racine, Wis./Park).

After Newbury was unable to respond with a run of its own, Wisconsin Lutheran scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Matt Lang (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) scored on an error and Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) scored on a Brad Marshall (Cudahy, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) fielder's choice.

Newbury was able to get two hits in the top of the seventh but was still unable to get a runner across the plate and the Warriors recorded the win.
