ORLANDO, Fla. - The Warriors' bats caught fire
in the second inning, notching 10 runs that accounted for the
majority of the 14-6 win against Emerson College in the RussMatt
Central Florida Invitational at Disney's Wide World of Sports
Complex.
The Warriors' offensive attack was well balanced throughout the
game with many players getting multiple hits and RBIs. The defense
was tenacious for the entire game, not committing a single
error.
After Emerson jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after the first
inning of play, Wisconsin Lutheran scored 10 runs on 10 hits on its
final out of the second inning.
Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) and Kyle Edlhuber
(Mukwonago, Wis./Luther Preparatory) led the Warriors with two RBIs
apiece in that second inning. During the inning, Wisconsin Lutheran
stole three bases and took advantage of two errors by Emerson.
After their 10-run second inning, the Warriors followed with
three more runs in the third, again on the final out of the inning.
Eric Burrow (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) drove in two runs
on a single and Edlhuber added an RBI for the final run of the
inning.
John Lynch (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia), Brandon Hutsen
(Oconomowoc, Wis./Lake Country Lutheran) and Joe Picone
(Lindenhurst, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) all made pitching
appearances for WLC. Lynch received the win after going three
innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, walking two and
striking out two.
The Warriors (3-2) will face Emerson in the second game of the
doubleheader on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
