CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College men's track & field team opened its outdoor season on
Saturday by competing in the J. Owen Huntsman Relays at Wabash
College.
Junior Dominique Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent) brought home
first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (11.17), long jump
(6.24m) and triple jump (13.98m). His mark in the triple jump was
good enough for a school record.
Fellow junior Ryan Timm (New Ulm, Minn./Minnesota Valley
Lutheran) also competed in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put
and javelin throw. His highest finish came in the 100-meter dash,
where he placed fifth.
Senior Rick LaFleur (Random Lake, Wis./Random Lake) participated
in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. He placed second of eight
in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.82 meters. Senior Blaine
Welch (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) placed fourth of 10 in the javelin
throw with a mark of 38.28 meters. WLC also fielded teams in the
1600-meter sprint medley relay and distance medley relay, placing
second and sixth, respectively.
Five Warriors competed in events on the afternoon, but team
scores were not kept.
Wisconsin Lutheran makes its home debut next Saturday when it
hosts the Warrior Invitational at Raabe Stadium. Events are slated
to get underway at 10:30 a.m.
