MILWAUKEE - The WLC baseball team was defeated by the Lakeland College Muskies 3-2 Friday afternoon in game one of its conference-opening doubleheader at Neumann Family Field.

Lakeland scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Mike Huber. Wisconsin Lutheran responded with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI groundout off the bat of senior AJ Paczocha (Cudahy, Wis./Union Grove Christian).

After a scoreless third inning, the Muskies plated a pair of runs in the fourth by stringing together four hits. The game remained 3-1 in favor of Lakeland until the bottom of the ninth inning. The Warriors began the ninth by putting their first three runners on base. Junior Kyle Edlhuber (Mukwonago, Wis./Luther Preparatory) followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2. The next two batters grounded out and WLC left runners at the corners when the game came to a close.

Sophomore Josh Ferrell (Cocoa, Fla./Temple Christian) went 2-for-4 and scored a run to lead Wisconsin Lutheran at the plate. Senior Josh Lemke (Brillion, Wis./Manitowoc Lutheran) pitched all nine innings, allowing only three earned runs, walking none and striking out five.

Mike Huber led the Muskies (4-9, 1-0 NAC) bats by going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-9, 0-1 NAC) hosts Lakeland in the second game of its doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m.
